Nuummite is a rare metamorphic gemstone best known for coming from Greenland, especially near the town of Nuuk (formerly spelled Nuuk/Nuume), which is where the stone gets its name.  The classic and most valuable “true Nuummite” comes from very ancient volcanic/metamorphic rock formations estimated to be about 3 billion years old.  Nuummite is known for dark black or charcoal base color, fibrous internal structure, and its mystical or protective reputation in crystal traditions.  It is extremely rare because it requires extreme conditions like rare metamorphic conditions to form its fibrous structure of (anthophyllite + gedrite).  Only available in small productive areas.  Even in Greenland, only a few locations produce gem-quality material to be able to source it.  This stone is very calming and grounding especially during a time of pain and confusion.
